Higher education levels are associated with increased earning as well as lower unemployment rates.

25 to 44 years 4.5% 
45 to 54 years 3.3%
55 to 64 years  2.8%

  
By Educational Attainment:
Less than high school graduate  9.4% 
High school graduate (includes equivalency)  5.0%
Some college or associates degree  3.5% 
Bachelor’s degree or higher  1.7%

Individuals in Iowa, with less than a high-school education have a much higher unemployment rate than any other group. Young Iowans (ages 18-34) entering the workforce are confronted with more challenging economic prospects than those faced by previous generations.
