Transportation
Affordable, reliable transportation is a basic need for low-income persons in order to get to and from work and for older adults to meet their basic needs and medical care.
In 2002 and 2006, United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) conducted a Community Assessment that included health and human service provider focus groups, household surveys and key leader focus groups. Lack of transportation was identified as a main barrier for clients accessing health and human services in both assessments.
