Since 1969, the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and the United Way of East Central Iowa have worked together to strengthen our communities. This partnership has provided services to members of organized labor, their families and community.

United Way Community Services Liaison

United Way of East Central Iowa is pleased to have Sarah Olson on staff as the AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison. Prior to coming to United Way in March 2006, Sarah worked for U.S. Senator Tom Harkin in his Cedar Rapids office.

Sarah is a proud member of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 153, AFL-CIO, and a delegate to the Hawkeye Labor Council, AFL-CIO. She is excited to work with United Way of East Central Iowa in partnership with the Hawkeye Labor Council, AFL-CIO. She believes in United Way’s mission and is looking forward to collaborating with working families to strengthen our community.
