Letter to the Community
Lois Buntz President & CEO
United Way of East Central Iowa has completed another successful year thanks to the investment, commitment and support from many organizations and individuals. Our community is truly stronger as a result of your efforts.
In 2007, United Way will focus on four main priorities:
- Agenda for Action
United Way has released its Agenda for Action, which will focus on three impact areas: strengthening children, strengthening families and strengthening connections. United Way will work with partner agencies and other community partners to create lasting, positive change in these areas.
- Mobilizing More Resources
In addition to the annual campaign, United Way will work with other organizations to access additional resources for our community. The Touch Tomorrow Society will be enhanced with additional planned giving and major gifts. Leadership giving will continue to expand with the Women’s Leadership program, additional Young Leaders Society members and the creation of a new Diamond Donor program that will recognize longtime United Way contributors.
- Community Partnerships
For the first time, local funders are working collaboratively on collective goals for the community. New and expanded partnerships with Diversity Focus, city and county government, United Way of Johnson County, Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Priority One and Linn County Nonprofit Resource Center will continue to yield positive connections and new projects.
- Organizational Effectiveness
As United Way continues to implement its three-year strategic plan, infrastructure needs are evident and critical. These include: technology improvements, talent recruitment, a solid financial base, strong governance and a compelling business plan. United Way is committed to building a strong foundation to achieve our goals. On behalf of United Way and the thousands of individuals and families who are served in our community, thank you for your continued support!
