On Saturday, May 10, letter carriers and volunteers will collect food for our local community in the annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive. The NALC Food Drive occurs across the nation and has been significant in alleviating hunger in America. It is the largest one-day food drive in the Cedar Rapids area.
United Way of East Central Iowa will be coordinating volunteers at Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) and other locations to sort food into boxes. The time commitment involves working a two-hour shift between the hours of 10:30 am to 4:30 pm.
For more information or to volunteer for the 2008 Letter Carriers Food Drive, contact Joie Welsh cwalocal7101@qwest.net or Tom Haugen tjhaugen@rockwellcollins.com. It's a great way to give back to the community!
