United Way of East Central Iowa announced that $651,000 in Community Impact Transition Funds and $35,518 in County Donor Option Grants have been awarded to area non-profit agencies. These funds support programs that address pressing community needs in Early Childhood Development & Care; Youth Development; Access to Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Care; Self-Sufficiency for Older Adults; and Rebuilding Lives.
There were a total of 52 applicants requesting nearly $1.3 million in support from the Community Impact Transition Fund. Grants were awarded to the following organizations:

The County Donor Option process provides funding to non-profit agencies in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Jones and Washington Counties. The amounts are determined by donors who designated that their contributions be used in a specific county. Grants were awarded to the following organizations:

“We had significantly more requests than we were able to fund during this process,” said Lois Buntz, President and CEO of United Way of East Central Iowa. “We worked closely with agencies to help them understand our new funding strategy and increased focus on measuable results for the money they receive.”
Agencies which did not receive grants from these programs are still eligible to seek funding from the United Way Community Impact Partner Fund, awarded in the spring and covering a three-year funding cycle.
