United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) is in the process of offering grant funds to Eastern Iowa non-profit organizations serving Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Jones, Linn and Washington counties.
The Community Impact Partner Fund will support non-profit programs that address pressing community needs. Funding priorities target these areas: Early Childhood Development & Care; Youth Development; Access to Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Care; Self-Sufficiency for Older Adults; and Rebuilding Lives. Applicants may apply to one or more of six focus areas.
Funds must be used for program support and not capital expenses. Funding requests must be a minimum of $10,000. Grant commitments will cover a three year funding period.
As part of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, eligible agencies are required to submit a Letter of Intent, which must be received by UWECI no later than noon Friday, November 9, 2007, and an RFP application, which must be received by Friday, January 4, 2007.
The deadline will be strictly enforced. Late submissions will not be accepted, regardless of postmark. UWECI offices are located at 1030 Fifth Ave. SE, Suite 100, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403-2479.
To be eligible for funding agencies must meet the following criteria:
• A current UWECI partner agency OR
• A 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization possessing documentation of non-profit status, AND
• An organization that is not primarily political in nature; does not provide services limited to members of a particular religious group; does not exist solely for the presentation of cultural or artistic achievements; or does not provide housing or rent subsidies on a long-term basis.
