COMMUNITY RESILIENCE COALITION OF EAST CENTRAL IOWA

Purpose Statement

The Community Resilience Coalition (CRC) of East Central Iowa will create an equitable, accountable, and responsive community that builds resilience, coordinates efforts, and leverages resources in order to break the cycle of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

Creating Resilient Communities

In 2013, UWECI launched CRC of East Central Iowa. CRC creates space to learn, discover shared language of trauma informed responses and resilience building, and develop goals to lessen or prevent ACEs. This collaborative group has representatives from multiple sectors including mental and behavioral health and early childhood and school district representatives.

CRC focuses on three areas of impact:

  1. Build resilience in children and parents through family engagement.
  2. Build resilient and compassionate communities through increasing community awareness and utilization of resources.
  3. Change practices to develop more responsive and healing environments.
