Linn Area Partners Active in Disaster
The Linn Area Partners Active in Disaster (LAP-AID) is the community organization that activates when a disaster takes place in Linn County. LAP-AID’s mission is to provide collaborative leadership to strengthen area-wide, ongoing disaster coordination in the affected areas. More than 30 local organizations participate in LAP-AID including health and human service providers, government agencies, funding sources, and faith-based organizations.
United Way of East Central Iowa currently provides leadership to several teams that make up LAP-AID including serving as officers and chairing various teams. 2-1-1 and the Volunteer Coordination team regularly participate in training and drills to make sure our community is prepared to respond in times of crisis. Through this team effort, United Way works to maximize human resources in preparation, response, and recovery.
