Did you know that 33% of households in United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI)’s five-county service area are what we know as Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed (ALICE). Essentially, there are individuals and families – in our area, right now – that are struggling to make ends meet and are often forced with tough decisions like paying the electric bill or putting food on the table.
That’s why, now more than ever, UWECI is asking you to step up to the plate and join our team, as we round the bases to a thriving community with our Spring fundraising initiative – Be a Community Champion.
The Be a Community Champion fundraising initiative has a goal of getting 100 new donors to make a gift to UWECI, which empowers our organization to give hope and support to our neighbors when it’s needed most. But, there’s a catch – the more donors United Way gets for the campaign, the more money is raised to ensure individuals and families have access to needed programs and resources within our community. To assist us in rounding the bases to a thriving community, we’ve rallied together a group of community champions, individuals and companies alike, to support our fundraising efforts with additional gifts that help create positive community change throughout East Central Iowa.
