Jones County Volunteer Center

Making a difference in Jones County

The Jones County Volunteer Center (JCVC) mobilizes individual and company volunteers to meet the critical needs of our community.  Volunteers in Jones County help with a variety of programs such as:

  • Elderly Outreach Assisted Transportation Program:
The Jones County Volunteer Center & RSVP offers an assisted transportation program for seniors (age 55+) who need rides to non-emergency medical appointments outside of the county. The transportation program ensures seniors are able to stay living independently longer, while receiving quality medical care as needed. Volunteers in this program do receive mileage reimbursement. This is a great program to be involved with if you are looking for a way to engage with your local community while helping those who need it most.  Call us today for more information: (319) 560-0811. Our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a national IRS-sponsored program that helps you receive your maximum federal and state tax refunds. If your household income is less than $64,000, you may qualify for VITA’s services.
  • Senior Health Insurance Information (SHIIP)
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides free of charge counseling and information to people with questions about Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance, long term care insurance and claim filing. Volunteers help answer questions and provide impartial information to help seniors make well informed decisions. Contact us at (319) 560-0811 for more information.
  • Volunteer Reception Center:
Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) serves as a point of mobilization, registration and referral for spontaneous, unaffiliated volunteers who emerge in response to a disaster.
