About the program

The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides free-of-charge counseling and information to people with questions about Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance, long-term care insurance, and claim filing. Volunteers help answer questions and provide impartial information to help seniors make well informed decisions.

Getting Involved

The Jones County Volunteer Center is always looking for volunteers to help their neighbors in understanding insurance.

In order to be a volunteer, you must:

  • Complete application and background check
  • Complete new volunteer training
  • Attend educational update seminars

By serving as a volunteer with SHIIP, you will:

  • Become an advocate in your community
  • Have the chance to educate your neighbors on health insurance issues so they can make informed decisions
