The Regional Vision Plan Unveiled
October 25, 2018 | Myah McCoy

“In 2040 we will achieve sustainable and equitable prosperity in Iowa.”

A Regional Vision Plan for Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington counties was released last Friday, October 19. The plan focuses on leveraging local businesses to encourage a diverse, entrepreneurial economy. It is also meant to help residents create a vibrant, healthy, and enjoyable environment in which we work and live. United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) was one of many organizational leaders in strategy for the plan.

The strategies identified in the plan will meet the needs of area employers and prepare individuals to enter the workplace ready and eager to participate. The plan was also established to help address potential threats to economic stability and growth. With overall goals focusing on the workforce, businesses, and community development, it will foster an ongoing collaborative process, which will continue to shape our region for years to come. The anticipated strides from the Regional Vision Plan align with United Way of East Central Iowa’s goal to increase the number of financially stable households by 15%.

This comprehensive regional development strategy was put together by representatives from:

The region’s stakeholders will come together again at the Future Ready Iowa Summit to continue advancing this shared plan. Head to regional-vision.org to learn more about the Regional Vision, the planning process, and the expected outcomes.
