National Volunteer Month: Our New Volunteer Menu
April 24, 2018 | United Way Team

Sue Driscoll is UWECI’s Senior Manager of Volunteer Engagement. In this blog for National Volunteer Month, she explains the benefits of our new volunteer menu that has a wealth of information for individual volunteers, companies and businesses, and nonprofits alike.

For more than 104 years, the community has known UWECI primarily as a fundraiser. But in the past ten years, we have worked hard to become an organization that invites and connects people to be part of the solution and strengthen communities. Volunteering is an important part of that equation.

UWECI has developed a volunteer menu to engage audiences throughout the community in volunteer activities and resources.

Individuals

Our volunteer menu has many options for individuals looking to get involved in the community. If you’re tech savvy, you can use our mobile-friendly volunteer matching website, Volunteer Now. This is your one-stop shop for volunteer options in our five-county service area. We also have several volunteer guides and toolkits to direct you to specific interests.

Companies

We can work with your company to build employee engagement to attract and retain a talented workforce. Volunteering has many benefits for employees, companies, and the community. Our volunteer menu includes options for you to start volunteering through episodic days of service or team building group volunteer projects. If your business is interested in building an employee engagement program, the Workplace Volunteer Council is a great option to network and learn from peers about best practices in creating a corporate volunteer culture.

Nonprofits

Volunteers are the backbone of nonprofits. We provide and connect nonprofits to resources, allowing them to engage volunteers more effectively to deliver programs and their mission. In the volunteer menu, nonprofits can find information to plan, recruit, retain, and recognize volunteers. Whether through capacity building trainings or our online matching website, our focus is helping connect nonprofits to volunteer resources.

It is our priority to make it easy for you to share your passions and skills and have an impactful experience. To chat in more depth about items on UWECI’s volunteer menu, contact me at sue.driscoll@uweci.org.
